What we're about

I have been teaching small watercolor Classes at a Coffee House in Altadena (close to Pasadena) in Los Angeles County for many years, and hope to find more people interested in exploring this demanding but exciting medium. I have now also expanded to teach Saturday classes in Montrose. The classes are limited to no more than 8 students per class so I can give a more individual experience than typically larger classes. It is very hard to learn the nuances of watercolor without having someone who can see what you are doing and point out how changing your process can give you more control.
Lessons are focused on general principles including composition, layering of color, color mixing, controlling washes, plus a special individual approach to where you are and where you want to go with watercolor painting. Fun is part of the process too, and we sure do have fun. So come on down and participate. You will be surprised what you can do, and the variety that watercolor can yield. To see paintings I have completed,  just check out http://www.altadenaartist.com. You can also sign up for any class that has openings on that website.

In-Person Watercolor Wow Class for Wednesday Afternoons will start February 2nd

The Coffee Gallery

$250.00

This Meetup is for an 8 week class that begins on February 2nd and runs for 8 weeks. You (and I) will need to be fully vaccinated by the time the class begins, and we WILL be wearing masks until that pesky virus releases us from its thrall. This means you need to be at least 2 weeks past the last dose of vaccine. Boosters are also suggested

I take a maximum of 6 students in this class so I can address where YOU are at and where you are going. And yes, I DO take beginners, even if you have never drawn before. We go through color mixing, composition, and how to get watercolor to do what you want (mostly).

And in case you are wondering, I have been teaching watercolor painting in the San Gabriel Valley for over 25 years and have taught at The Coffee Gallery for over 15 years. I am an artist member of the California Art Club and have exhibited in shows throughout the region. For more info about me, check out my website at www.altadenaartist.com. There are also more class details available on the website.

• What to bring
Just yourself unless you have done some painting already. Then you MAY bring in some examples of your work, but you don't have to if you don't want to. Also if you have any materials (paint, paper, etc.) you can bring it in so I can see what you already have. DO NOT buy new stuff for class unless you talk to me first, or check the material list at my website
