What we're about

We are a social walking group with emphasis on a mixture of hiking, exploring and appreciating scenic natural landscapes, flora, fauna and adventure, for like-minded fans of New Zealand. We organize day hikes and multi-day hiking trips to waterfalls, rivers, streams, springs, rapids, beaches, regional parks and forests around Auckland and New Zealand.

These events will suit beginners, leisure and regular hikers as well as keen photo enthusiasts, who prefer a varied mixture on the trips, like to take lot of pictures, and/or just appreciating and absorbing the stunning scenery, while connecting with new and regular hikers. We usually walk at a comfortable, moderate pace for the average hikers and usually stop at places of interest.

We are very lucky to be living in New Zealand, with it's stunning scenery, beautiful and unique landscapes ranging from waterfalls, blue springs, glow-worm caves, un-spoilt golden/black beaches and rocks, snow-capped mountains, wetlands, geothermal parks and active volcanic islands, regional forests and parks with several Great Walks (there are nine of them) and other popular hiking tracks. We have rich floras and faunas, bird sanctuaries, sea life and marine reserves.

Bring your cameras, lens, tripods, drones and ...

Happy waterfall exploring!

Cascade Falls and Ecozip Waiheke Island

Needs a location

CHANGE OF SCHEDULE FOR OUR EVENT ON SUNDAY 27 MAY Hi everyone It’s only a few days to go before our WAIHEKE WATERFALLS AND ECOZIP TRIP. The morning sessions are unavailable on Ecozip as they don’t have enough spaces for our entire group so we have to change our schedule to the 2.15 pm Ecozip. We need confirmation from you whether you are 100% coming to the event and if you have already booked an Ecozip session. Depending on our numbers, Ecozip may need to have extra staff available for our group so we would appreciate your response by lunchtime on Thursday 23 May. If you don’t respond, we will remove you from the event. PLEASE CONFIRM YOU WILL BE ATTENDING BY POSTING IN THE MESSAGE BOARD BELOW EVENT DETAILS Join the Waterfall Explorers for loads of fun, a magnificent day on Waiheke Island, checking out the Cascades Waterfall (in Waiheke Island) and the amazing Ecozip experience. As this is in Waiheke Island you will need to book a return ferry ticket (or one way if you wish to stay on the island), departing from either Devonport or the CBD - we will use the Waiheke Explorer Hop on/Hop off bus to explore the island. Assemble at the ferry terminal on Waiheke island just near the hop-on/hop-off bus, we will catch the first bus which is at 9:45 AM. IMPORTANT: If you are departing from CBD you can catch the 7 am, 8 am, 8.30 am or 9 am ferry. If you are catching from Devonport you will need to catch the 9.10 am (don't miss this one, as the next one is at 11.10 am) - that way we can all be ready for the bus at 9.50 am at Waiheke. RVSPing means you have read all the event details, and accepted all responsibilities for your own safety, fitness levels and well-being for the whole event duration and absolve the meetup organiser/s of any liability.
