If you’re looking for an event that will help you overcome your lack of confidence and shyness, THIS IS IT.
Please be brave and RSVP, then take the next step and come along for what I’m certain will be an invaluable opportunity for you.
I’ll be your host for a full day of support groups and low-pressure workshops, specifically designed for people struggling with social anxiety and/or low self-esteem or depression.
You will arrive at 9:55am (to begin at 10am) and leave around 3pm. In every activity or exercise, I promise you’ll never be put on the spot to speak in front of the group, and if at any point in the day you wish to take a breather, you’re more than welcome – just put your hand up to me (nobody will think any less of you – we’re all in the same boat) and I’ll make sure that you’re ok.
A lot of what we do will be done alone or in pairs, though sometimes as a group (max. 12 people – though probably fewer), and when this happens you’re more than welcome to just sit and listen to other people if you don’t feel like speaking yourself.
Before I tell you about the schedule, I just want to remind you that you’ll be joining a safe group, composed entirely of people who also suffer with low self-esteem, low confidence, and social anxiety, and it really couldn’t be a better environment for you to take the next concrete step to improving your situation.
The schedule is as follows:
1st Hour / Support Group:
This will be a calm, casual chat amongst the group and/or in pairs (if people don’t feel like speaking this may feel more natural). There will be no pressure to say anything in the group at all if you don’t feel like it.
2nd Hour / Speaking Practice:
This is an opportunity for anybody who feels they can (or would like to) progress a little further. In a very friendly and supportive environment, among other anxiety sufferers, we will each have a little practice at public speaking (this is just a few small exercises, lasting for as long or short as you'd like to speak for – no pressure, at all; only what you’re comfortable with). Again, there will be absolutely no pressure to do this if you don’t feel like it; you can just sit and listen to others.
3rd Hour / Memory Group:
A workshop designed to demonstrate the link between anxiety and memory impairment. You may find that you forget people’s names constantly, or what they said, dates, times, events. The workshop addresses this and aims to improve your effectiveness (*note: all activities will be done alone or in pairs – it will be nothing strenuous, I promise).
Short break (10 – 15 minutes).
4th Hour / Writing Group:
A workshop designed to give written form to your feelings about anxiety. You don’t need any experience with writing whatsoever, and anything you write here will be written privately – you won’t have to read or show it to anyone in the group; it is a form of therapy for *your* anxiety and will only be for *you*.
5th Hour / Speaking Practice:
Some more light-hearted, friendly speaking exercises to round off the day (trust me, there will still be no pressure to speak at all if you’re not feeling up to it - just a genuine opportunity to progress a little bit further if you are).
Please let me know if you have any questions at all. Otherwise, feel free to RSVP now and get the ball rolling – I can’t wait to meet you!
All the best,
