The dominant industry in Watford and the Gade Valley has traditionally been printing.
Frogmore Mill (http://www.thepapertrail.org.uk) is the world's oldest mechanised paper mill and is where paper's industrial revolution was launched 200 years ago. The mill and visitor's centre are open to visit and tour and are hosting their Autumn Fayre on the day we're visiting. There will be a small entrance fee (the Fayre is £1, entry to the mill is usually £6.50).
After our visit we'll walk down the canal a short distance and enjoy Sunday Lunch by the canalside at The Papermill, Apsley (http://papermillapsley.co.uk).
Access is easy - pay and display parking is available near Frogmore Mill (on Durrants Hill Road) or Apsley Station (10 mins walk from Frogmore Mill) is served by an hourly service on a Sunday to/from Watford Junction and London Euston.
Meeting location: 1115 outside Frogmore Mill on Fourdrinier Way.
We are booked for Sunday Lunch at for 13:30. Having discussed with the pub, they are happy for us to order on the day so there will be no need to pre-order.
The number of spaces available will be fixed based on those who have signed up by 21st September. After that, a waiting list will operate and spaces will only become available if someone else pulls out.
