  • Treasure Island Drum Circle
There are multiple (2 that I am aware of) beach access parking lots on Gulf Boulevard where you can park. This is a great place to reach people that are receptive to the movement. Bring towels and beach wear. You are sure to have a great time and this is a good chance for us to all get together and come up with ideas.

  • St. Petersburg Food Not Bombs: Weekly Monday Evening Food Sharing
Come out and get involved with your in community ♥ The subject of this week's teach-in hosted by Bruce Wright is "What does it mean to Resist the System". These teach-ins usually begin around 7pm and have just been amazing so far! We are a vegan/vegetarian movement, because this is a non-violent organization, and that act of non-violence extends out to all living beings. We would prefer to use resources of food that would normally be thrown away. One of the ideas behind Food Not Bombs is that corporate and government priorities are skewed to allow hunger to persist in the midst of abundance. To demonstrate this (and to reduce costs), a large amount of the food served by the group is surplus food from grocery stores, bakeries and markets that would otherwise go to waste. WE ARE IN NEED OF: Mens Clothing Mens Work Boots SILVERware (not plastic) Cups (reusable) Food Donations (especially If you have stuff getting close to expiration that you don't want to go to waste) If you have nothing to offer, but make music..this is always a beautiful and welcome gift to our houseless community. It has been reported that when we bring live entertainment, it keep their spirits high for the rest of the week ♥ We are an anarchist and non-secular organization. Our morals and actions reflect on these values. We share food rain or shine Source: http://facebook.com/events/1918136735142541 Food Not Bombs of Saint Petersburg on Facebook: http://facebook.com/groups/Stpetefoodnotbombs

  • St. Petersburg Food Not Bombs: Weekly Wednesday Breakfast Food Sharing
To bring attention to this (and to reduce costs), a large amount of the food served by the group is surplus food from grocery stores, bakeries and markets that would otherwise go to waste. This is a weekly event (in addition to our regular weekly Monday evening food share). We plan on sharing coffee and pastries and other breakfast food such as tofu scramble, breakfast casseroles, and cereal. Sandwiches and bagged lunches will also be helpful, as many of our houseless community go until the evening without a meal at times. If you have any resources to procure some of these foods please let us know. We are also in need of MENS clothing. Socks, shoes, belts are amongst things that are always asked for. Hygeine products including pads/tampons are always in demand as well. If you have nothing to offer, but make music..this is always a beautiful and welcome gift to the gathering Come out and get involved in community activism ♥ Source: http://facebook.com/events/1587315127949568 Food Not Bombs of Saint Petersburg on Facebook: http://facebook.com/groups/Stpetefoodnotbombs

  • Environmental Learning Center Cornucopia Project
Wednesdays are grounds day at the UU, and we follow up with work on the Sacred Space Mandela garden. We'll be gathering biomass, marking out the design, etc. Please do come join us--we have lots of FUN!!! Currently focusing on creating a critter barrier around the garden, which involves tools: clawhammer and crowbar are most helpful, and we always need more screws (2 1/2 inch especially). • Monthly Gaia's Guardians North Pinellas Group--come see permaculture in action!
We've had some really great meetings, with awesome presenters, seed and plant swaps, and much more to come! We do need a dedicated group of people to participate in the ongoing organization--can you contribute an hour or so each month? Thursdays will default to the drum circle at The Witch's Brew in Old Palm Harbor, and Tuesdays to another public spot, such as the clubhouse at Heather Lake, unless we get some new input. Thanks to Annette Jordan, Andy Karpinski, Vicki Conrad, David Ring, and Jason Stepp for stepping up to fill needed niches thus far! *EXTRA*EXTRA*~PERMABLITZ SIGNUP THIS MONTH!~*EXTRA*EXTRA* We will begin having monthly permablitzes, and anyone who signs up, shows up for (at least) three gets moved to the top of the list for the next month. We do also prioritize community projects, non-profits, and those who volunteer for community projects. The list will be on the seed swap table, so get your name on it! Seed/plant swap if you have anything to share (if you have no seeds, plants or cuttings--bring food, that always works ;-).
