How long have you been working on improving website performance?

Approximately 15 months.

How did you first become interested in making sites faster?

When I started working at GigaOM, which sees a lot of traffic volume and runs on hosting, which means many traditional performance-improving processes are unavailable to us. For this reason, improving performance requires some unique code-based approaches such as lazy-loading content.

I am a WordPress PHP/jQuery developer working for GigaOM, a San Francisco-based provider of tech news and research. I am based remotely in Plymouth, New Hampshire.
