Why Your Landing Pages Suck

  • Mar 10, 2015 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Speaker: Patrick Stox

Marketing Project Supervisor

TheeDesign Studio

Not that I've seen your landing pages, I'm just assuming they suck because most do. You're losing money because you can't get people to do what you want them to. You have to get people to you page, convince them to choose you, and tell them what to do. Why is that so difficult?

We'll cover:

tracking and testing

I will have a powerpoint with some talking points and examples, but I would love for others to chime in with ideas or examples of what has worked for them.

Please consider moderating a meeting! It takes only a small amount of preparation and the back-and-forth discussion is much more lively than a Q&A session after a "powerpoint and bullets" lecture style presentation.

We often have Open Floor discussions on topics chosen by a volunteer moderator. Some tickler topics:

Building skills, or, what new software/services have you learned (or written!)

Tips and Techniques for effective design by newbies

Web SEO, marketing and evaluating results

Book or article reviews - read or written!

Focus Group style Web Site Tear Downs

- Mitch

Format of Meeting, and Time

Since many of us get to the meeting early, we make a half-hour available as a meet-eat-and-greet time prior to any presentations or shop talk. We start formally at 7:30pm, but arriving at 7pm will give you time to get settled in.

We typically do a round-robin greeting just before the action starts at 7:30pm. We will end the greeting period with announcements, and then give the floor to the presenter or moderator.

Consider the benefits of moderating, presenting lecture style, or giving a tutorial:

Enhanced Credibility

Visibility For Your Business

Increased Good Will

Speakers, THANK YOU for your participation.

About the Locations

Recent meetings have been held at TekSystems' offices at the corner of Edwards Mills and Trinity Road. Outside doors of the building lock at 7pm - we will try to have a posted paper with a cell number to call or text or have a person at the door - but arriving promptly will help avoid a wait.

Panera has WiFi access, deep pots of coffee, and plenty of room. Please be polite to the staff and mindful of other customers. We should vacate by 9pm so staff can go home! Note: Maps.Google.Com finally shows the correct location.

Check the menu on our Web site for Past Meetups you may have missed.

President Obama raised an additional $60 million, using A/B Testing

A 1 second delay in your site speed can result in a 7% reduction in conversions

Cutting out just a single field can make a huge difference. For example, Expedia boosted annual sales by $12 million dollars by removing a “Company Name” field from their signup process:

ImageScape reduced the number of form fields from 11 to 4 and the number of forms submitted increased 160%.

Gmail once tested 50 shades of blue for their CTA color and found the highest converting shade

I won't be able to make this one, I hope you have a great conversation. On a related note I am looking for someone that could provide ongoing Wordpress back end support - plugins, updates, etc.
