Nescopeck State Park.

Please join me for an easy 7-8 mile hike in scenic Nescopeck Park. We will hike past three small lakes, meander alongside beautiful Nescopeck Creek, and hike in a 200 acre forest, home to 160 species of birds, 50 species of mammals, 30 species of amphibians and reptiles and over 650 species of plants. We will finish the hike by returning to the Park Office near pristine Lake Francis. For those who want to extend the hike, there will be an optional 3 mile mountain loop, which will include a moderate climb. Please wear orange.

Great hike on a not so great day; but everyday is a great day to hike.
It was good to meet new hikers as well as catch up with some hiking regulars.

Even though it was a dark, damp day, I rated this hike highly because of the area's natural beauty, seeing beaver dams & lodge, our wonderful leader & fellow hikers, and watching a belted king fisher fly. Plan to return! 😊🌲

Hiking with new friends made the wet morning a very pleasant experience. I'm looking very forward to the next event.

The hike for tomorrow is on!
Please stay tuned. If I wake up in the morning and can't get out of my driveway because of snow, I may cancel the hike. I will post a status report at 0630.
Since it is hunting season, please wear orange.
It's gonna B a great day to hike. Gene

Gene, Just to be sure: are the above directions correct because when I googled directions to Nescopeck State Park, they ended at Peat Moss Road?

    • Eugene V.

Roberta. Honey Hole Rd is correct. Coming from Scranton, a better alternative is to take the Mountain top exit off of I81 to top of Mountain Top, bear left on rte 437, then turn right on Honey Hole Rd, which will be marked by a sign to Nescopek Park.

Hi Gene. It is still rifle deer season for both bucks and doe on Wednesday - the last day of the rifle season is Sat., Dec. 10th. Please advise all hikers to wear some orange blaze if they have it. Have a safe hike!
