What we're about

Anyone who enjoys the outdoors, regular Sunday hikes, and especially weekend hiking with rustic accommodation. We don't aim for the most difficult terrains nor the fastest hiking times, but neither the easiest terrains nor walks. This allows you to appreciate nature,and dabble in photography and occasionally bird-watch if so inclined.

We plan a weekend base camp hike once a month. The emphasis of a weekend base camp hike is on enjoying nature, and not pampering - for that please contact your travel agent. Our choice of venues is rustic - from dorms to shared rooms, outside or inside kitchens and shared inside or outside ablutions.

We will also include any other adventure related outdoor activities that come up, though not high adrenaline.

Our aim is to exercise, get back into nature, socialise and enjoy our wonderful sunshine - some of the activities that enhance our quality of life.

PLEASE NOTE:
==============

This group is NOT meant for beginner hikers. If you cannot hike more than 10km at a steady pace of 1km in 12 to 14 minutes, please start off at one of the walking groups or Parkrun.

Num Num Trail - 3 Day Backpack Hike

Pongola Express Camp

$720.00

VENUE: ======= The Num-Num Trail, named after the num-num shrub indigenous to this part of Mpumalanga, is one of SA’s more pleasant multi-day hikes. The trail traverses the rugged edge of the Highveld escarpment, meandering through the dramatic landscape surrounding the towns of Machadodorp and Badplaas. Hikers can look forward to a really rewarding and well-planned hike, with ample rest stops from which to take in panoramic views of the rock formations and spectacular scenery along the route. Refreshing rock pools will entice you to cool off in the mountain kloofs. The most spectacular waterfall on the hike is the Uitkomst Falls. At 84m it is the second highest drop in Mpumalanga. As a word of caution: the rocks under the Uitkomst Falls are very dangerous, and resuted in a fatal injury recently. Swimming in the waterfall pool is therefore not allowed. Exceptional overnight accommodation adds to the experience, especially at the Aloe Kaya Camp. Minimum-impact construction uses features such as natural rock pillars, with breathtaking views over the Komati Valley below. The camps in which you stay are well equipped and you will not require your own cooking and eating utensils. ~~~~~ Websites: https://www.nightjartravel.com/hiking/num-num-trail http://footprint.co.za/num-num.htm TRAVEL: ======== Distance - 300km from Chilli Lane Shopping Centre, Sunninghill Time - Approx 3.0 hours **** NB - Arrive no later than 18h30 on Friday.
