About the destination: Gandikota along the banks river Penna in Andhra Pradesh is known for its spectacular gorge formed by river Penna that cuts through the Erramala hills. This handsome piece of Natures architecture has come to be known as the Grand Canyon of India by travelers who visit it and get bewitched by its beauty. Apart from the unmatched beauty of the gorge, the mystical charm of this fort makes a visit to this village all the more exciting for history lovers and adventure seekers. Belum Caves are the second longest caves in the Indian subcontinent open to public. These caves are more than thousand years old formed by constant flow of underground water over a period of time. The waterfall located in the middle of majestic Western Ghats is surrounded by lush greenery. Dudhsagar is the fourth largest waterfall in India at a height of more than 1000 feet. The trek starts at Kulem railway station, adjacent to the railway track and through the forest sometimes. The 11 kms trek to Dudhsagar falls takes 3 hours to finish usually. The muddy trails, sticky paths, dense forest, tunnels, streams to cross - we have it all during this amazing trek. There is a natural pool at the bottom of the falls where we are allowed to take a dip with life jackets. But the force is so high during the monsoons (July to September) that we just have to witness this magnificent waterfalls from it's base. It's so huge that we can get to see the moving Train passing on a railway bridge right at the middle of Waterfalls. The train almost looks like a toy ;-) Dudhsagar is a place where one can truly experience nature in all its glory. A relaxing train journey back home is what you exactly need to cherish the unforgettable image of Dudhsagar on your mind. It's a different world all together that takes you back in time, amazes you with it's mystical ruins, and makes you wonder how magnificent this city would have been centuries ago! While we marvel at the colored-retro setting of the Hampi, we are gonna stay very close to the river Tungabadra, camp in the tents, hike couple of brown & beautiful boulder filled hillocks & enjoy beautiful views from the top. Can we be satisfied without getting wet? Let's take a soul soothing dip in the pristine waters of Sanapur lake under hot Hampi weather! What more? lazy lunch on the cozy beds of a cafe, lot of socializing, good food, music & bonfire...all of them to quench your thirst for an offbeat & laid back weekend..!! The overcast skies because of monsoons hitting Hampi is icing on the cake!
