Offering: Guided Meditation and Yoga for Parents & children of ALL ages
What to expect:
Yoga Nidra translates as Yogic Sleep – an ancient sleep-based meditation technique that includes breathing and relaxation techniques.
Yoga Nidra combines mindfulness practices into a series of breath, body and awareness techniques which allows a deeper brainwave state than typical mindfulness meditation.
Because Yoga Nidra is done while lying down, it is very comfortable, making it accessible to all ages and backgrounds including those who may be affected by physical impairments.
What to bring:
Please bring mats, blankets, pillow, or even a favorite stuffed animal! Anything that might make you and your child supremely comfortable.
Children today also have reportedly high-stress levels. To help them take a break, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) encourages parents to share meditation with their children.
The simple act of teaching children how to stop, focus, and just breathe could be one of the greatest gifts you give them.
Our evening Yoga Nidra session is a great way to wind down after school and work.
Kids and adults face many challenges, such as:
An influx of energy that can be overwhelming
Pressure from school, work and peers
Performance demands in studies, sports, and job performance
Difficulty building healthy relationships with others
Managing emotions—such as anger, disappointment, anxiety
Benefits of Meditation:
Several studies suggest that kids and adults who practice mindfulness tend to develop positive traits such as increased self-control, better attentiveness in class and work, and more empathy and respect for others.
In addition, meditation may help children and adults manage challenging conditions such as stress, depression, ADHD and hyperactivity.
Meditation gives the mind the space it needs to (re)discover the natural balance, goodness, and discernment that have always been there.
Clarity, calmness, and improved focus are some of the potential psychological benefits of meditation that come to light relatively quickly.
In addition, there are numerous mental effects of meditation that occur over the long run.
Long term effects of meditation:
Enhanced memory, concentration, and perception
Increased levels of happiness and compassion
A healthier immune system
The benefits of meditation often arrive after some time, we notice that we’ve changed, our mood is a bit lighter, and we don’t react with negativity so quickly.
Our minds and our bodies are connected.
Meditation leads to a healthy, peaceful mind. To see what meditation can do for you, join Rebecca Lynn at Kaleidoscope Dance every Friday for Yoga Nidra (guided meditation) paired with sublime and soothing sound healing.
