What we're about

This group meets on Monday evenings to write. Quietly. The point is less social and more to hold you accountable to the production of new work. If you dedicate at least one night/week to writing that novel, it gets done a lot faster than the novel you plan to write 'someday.' Same for poetry chapbooks, screenplays, play scripts, memoirs, flash fiction collections, experimental novellas, and anything else you dream of writing.

We will meet at 7:30 PM at the Starbucks by the Mueller HEB (not the one by Chipotle, which is a couple blocks away and also in Mueller). If it's warm, we might be outside; if not, likely we're inside. From 7:30-8:00, feel free to buy a drink, chat with your fellow writers, and pose any craft questions you may have. But from 8:00-9:00, we write with our heads down and our lips sealed.

Bring your notebook, pen, laptop, tablet, etc. Bring $ if you want a drink/snack. Bring a couple extra bucks if you'd like to help chip in toward the Meetup fees.

Occasionally, I will advertise other writing-related workshops on this Meetup. These are always offered/organized by Cider Spoon Stories, have a separate class fee, and are completely optional.

Writing Your Bio/About Page

Needs a location

$10.00

Join Austin ghostwriter and editor Jess Hagemann for this one-hour interactive livestream event. From the comfort of your home, office, or while noshing on lunch, learn the three “must-have” elements of any good bio or About Page. The best bios do far more than introduce you: they establish a connection between you and your audience; sell said audience on your expertise; and leave them wanting more—hungry to get to know the man or woman behind the words. Like your wardrobe, your bio should be professional yet reflect your personality. When is it okay to go casual or quirky? How long should your bio be? What must it absolutely include—and can that content at the same time increase your SEO? Jess will lecture (a combination of lessons, stories, and examples from her own business, Cider Spoon Stories) for approximately 30 minutes. Then she’ll open it up to your specific questions, comments, and concerns. A link to the Zoom Room will be emailed to you the week of March 13.
