If you are deploying Dynamics CRM using the deployment wizard you are behind the industry norm! Gone are the days of manual deployments. The future lies with PowerShell DSC.
“DSC is a new management platform in Windows PowerShell that enables deploying and managing configuration data for software services and managing the environment in which these services run.”
In our last session we discussed automated “code drops” using Octopus Deploy and PowerShell DSC. This session will focus on building the server components.
Starting with the prerequisites AD, .NET, SQL, Firewall rules... to the actual Dynamics CRM install, this session will cover the capabilities of PowerShell DSC, its limitations, and the workarounds that should cover most of server deployments and maintenance tasks. The examples described are not bound to just Dynamics CRM but to any server deployment. Dynamics CRM is used as an example to illustrate different scenarios.
During this session, Rami will build a full blown standalone Dynamics CRM server from scratch within 50 min. Furthermore, Rami will demonstrate how to separate environment data from deployment steps.
