Wine and Dine - French Bistro Dinner and Wine Matching at Le Marche

Over the last month Jules, our resident Sommelier, and I have been looking for restaurants that have exciting, amazingly talented and passionate chefs to put a menu together just for Wellington Foodies.

The first in this series of events will be with the highly acclaimed Veroneique Sauzeau of Le Marche Francais Bistro at the beautiful and historic Woolstore.

Before opening her bistro Veronique worked as the person chef to the French Ambassador in Wellington, she is one of David Burtons favourite chefs and recently featured as one of the guest chefs at Moore Wilson Tour, Taste and Cook season. Her bistro is one of the few places in Wellington that prepares outstanding French food.

Jules from Macvine has prepared wine matches for each of Veronique's dishes. Leave the car at home.... the serving will be very generous!

To keep the cost down we asked Veronique to come up with a set menu that she believes shows off the best of french cuisine.

Menu:

Degustation plate; melon gazpaccho, cheese salad.chicken parfait on manuka honey bread

Main course; Veal Provencale Vero s way mozaique ratatouille

Degustation plate, petis fours a la Veronique, lemon shot, creme brulee, 1000 feuille roast abricots

Vegetarian option is also available but it will be a surprise on the night....

A degustation menu like this from such an acclaimed chef would normally be in the region of $130pp...... but Jules and I have managed to put this one together for just $75pp including a wine match for various regions of France for each course. Numbers for this one are strictly limited so get in quickly. Last day for payment is Monday 25th Feb. No late payments please, this type of event requires major prep!
