To celebrate Valentine's day we'll have two speakers sharing experiences and thoughts about their passion, Tech! Ditch your partners and come spend the evening with us.
Tech experts, non-techs, juniors, beginners, undefineds, everyone is welcome to come. This time the meetup is focused on not-too-technical interesting topics. The goal is to make all women who want to be in tech feel welcomed and not intimidated. We are a friendly bunch ;)
We are very lucky to have Sacha Judd, Director of SilverStripe, Managing Director at Hoku Group, member of the Takeovers Panel, startup champion, early-stage investor, co-host of Refactor, co-founder of Flounders' Club and creator of Back of a Napkin. She's in town for Webstock and is giving us a talk about diversity in the sector. You can check out her website and other talks she's given at http://www.sachajudd.com/
"Starting from 0" by Rachel Margaret, Senior Accounts Administrator at SilverStripe, will be about her journey 311 hours into Harvard's Introduction to Computer Science through edX. She recently won SilverStripe's Hackday Technical Award for her Share Trading web app using Python, SQLite, Flask and Jinja. You can read about the beginning of her adventure at https://www.silverstripe.org/blog/the-journey-of-debugging-the-gender-gap/
All speakers have been warned to expect interruptions and conversations during their talks, so ask away. Ask all the things!
As always, Silverstripe will keep us happy with food and drinks, so all you need to do is come and have a good time! We haven't ruled out chocolates & wine as well as pizza for this meetup ;)
