New tramping ideas online - check them out!

Hi all!
It was great to see such a good turn out at the Southern Cross – and some good ideas as an outcome too! I’ve put the highlights from the white board up as suggestions. And Andrew King’s emailed around 1 million suggestions – keep tuned they will be up later! (Thanks for all the work Andrew!!!). Check it out, sign up – and let me know if you are interested to host trips since I won’t have time for all of them. Always make sure that your group is well prepared and equipped for the conditions and the track. Everyone is responsible for their own safety – but as a host make sure to indicate difficulty.

  1. Manuoha to Waikareiti Track (Lake Waikaremoana)
  2. Tararua Northern Crossing
  3. Mt Holdsworth - Jumbo Circuit
  4. Mt Matthews (with overnight stay in a hut)
  5. Sunrise Hut (Eastern Ruahine Forest park)
  6. Mt. Taranaki
  7. Kapakapanui Track
  8. Milford Trek and / or Rippon Festival in Wanaka (1st Feb 2014)
  9. Smiths Dobson Track (Daytrip)

Other plans:

Gourmet hikes

Time: Over night (2-4 hrs each way)
Difficulty: easy hikes

I hear you – we should have more of those! How about hiring a hut in the Ororonga Valley? It’s just 2- 3 hours walk from Catchpool carpark and we can carry lots of divine foods and drinks? Mitre Flats hut is

easy to access too – and in a really nice setting!
Any other ideas for destinations are welcome.

Great walks
Bring them on! Let people know if you are planning to do one and you can arrange travel together. Make sure to book early in advance – especially for long weekends!

All ideas:

And add yours as well!

Have fun!
