How to find us

Parking for this hike could be a challenge. Give yourself time. We'll be meeting in the lobby of the ArtsQuest Center at the SteelStacks Building

We’ll be meeting in the lobby of the ArtsQuest Center at the SteelStacks. We’ll hike together as quickly as possible trying to get as many miles in within a two and a half hour period.

This is a wonderful workout hike. We'll climb 900+ feet in less than 4 miles. At the midpoint of our hike, we're at the top of Lacocca Hall's observation room with a 360 degree spectacular views of both Bethlehem and Hellertown. After that, it's a 3 mile hike back to the cars where we stop by one of the many local pubs for a bite to eat.

Because we are using the Steel Stacks and University for our route, the sidewalks are well lit, and maintained.

Required Equipment & Gear:

Tennis Shoes with good traction, and 3L of Water is a must. We will be under streetlamps most of the time. If you do need a headlamp, it must be red-light only so you don’t blind your fellow hikers. Try to wear bright colors so cars can see us when we cross the streets.

The weather is changing regularly on us. Try to limit the cotton you are wearing. Quick Dry or 100% Wool are the best materials to be using. Cotton retains water, and makes for miserable hikers.

Dogs are welcomed on this hike, but must be on a lease. The dogs must be able to maintain a 3-4 mph pace. It’s advisable they have a low powered red light on their collar so the other hikers can see them in the dark (again, no white lights). If you are bringing a dog, please let the other hikers know in the comments section of Meetup in case other hikers have severe allergies.

Safety First…. So We Can Have Fun!
As always, “Having Fun” is a number one priority for all of my hikes. To do that means we need to be safe. On the trail, we’ll keep the group together, and leave no one behind. I definitely want us to have a workout on our hikes, but there should always be a focus of having a fun, enjoyable, safe, social, yet drama free environment!

To do that, as the leader, I will sometimes ask the stronger hikers to take the role of Sweep, or be at the back of pack as we hike. My hikes are challenging hikes, but unless it’s listed as such in the title, they are NOT “challenge hikes.” We’ll keep everyone together throughout the day, and work as a team in order to keep the pace as strong as possible while ensuring everyone has a great day on the trail. If you’re a person who needs be at the front of the pack at all times, or is only focused on rushing down the trail ahead of the group, this hike is not for you.

I look forward to seeing you on the trail!!!! __________________________________________________________
