Wellness is about preventing illness and promoting good health. This group empowers individuals to develop and begin a personalized wellness regimen that emphasizes the importance of well-being on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. This Yoga Therapy group pulls from the practice of yoga as well as other healthy and holistic tools, many of which are also seen in psychotherapy. Not every person is the same, and what works well for one person, may not be a good fit for another. Keeping this in mind, the Yoga Therapy group will teach a variety of healthy lifestyle and coping skills in order to find appropriate and applicable skills that work for each participant.

Yoga is not just about the asanas (postures), it also involves mindbody practices, breathwork, visualization, relaxation, and meditation. Yoga is known for helping one to calm the body and quiet the mind. Often in this mindbody state, participants can experience and access what may have been held in the body, bringing deep emotions, awareness, and clarity to a traditional talk therapy group session. Recently, research has shown that Yoga practices can also reduce autonomic sympathetic activation, muscle tension, pain and other physical symptoms, blood pressure, emotional distress, improve neuroendocrine and hormonal activity, and increase quality of life. This group invites participants to experience the techniques and benefits of Yoga and other forms of movement, to learn healthy coping skills, and to experience a healing process within a safe community setting.
Each yoga class will have a different focus, often as part of a theme for the month or season. Some possible topics include:
-Asanas for pain, tension, anxiety, depression, stress, frustration, and insomnia
-Chakra series- one class on each of the chakras and a class on the interplay of all seven
