  • to
  • ST. FRANCOIS STATE PARK

8920 HIGHWAY 67 NORTH, BONNE TERRE, MO (map)

    37.973590 -90.537445

  • Carpool meeting at 9:00, meet at park at 9:45-10:00 at park...Mooners Hollow Trailhead
  • Another EXPLORER DOG EXCURSION.  Bring lunch, we'll find a spot to eat between trails.

Approx 6 miles of new trails, difficult terrain, we will be exploring new trails, so be prepared to get lost, get your feet wet, and let your dog play in the water and get dirty.

Carpool meeting time is 9:00, hike starts at 10:00 from MOONERS HOLLOW TRAILHEAD.

We'll be hiking the Mooners Hollow Trail and Swimming Deer Trail...each about 3 miles long and rated difficult terrrain.  Hiking boots required.

YOU MUST HAVE ATTENDED AT LEAST ONE 5 MILE HIKE WITH OUR GROUP TO ATTEND.  We have our own pace on our hikes, we are not like other hiking groups, and you might not like us....or we might not like you.  If you're a "first timer", your name will be removed from the rsvp list.

Not a power hike, we will goof off as much as we hike.  It's about enjoying the trails, the scenery and the company.  Maybe some creeks to cross, wear boots.  This is new for us, so come prepared for whatever the trail offers.

I'm putting my spot on the block. I have been there recently and anyone who wants to go should have the chance first. I'm concerned about getting back in time for a previous commitment. FYI: 1- it's gorgeous 2- plenty of parking 3- bathrooms were closed for the season ( I didn't notice alternatives to the flushies, but wasn't looking) and the waterlines to campsites were off and winterized, so bring plenty of water 4- trails and trailheads well marked, Swimming Deer TH just behind the campground (closed) bathrooms.

Swimming Deer is pretty dry with beach time at the start

If I think I can handle hike and getting back in time, I'll see if there is still room closer to the time. It is really a cool park.
