Let's take our Fidos to see the beautifully decorated storefronts in West Des Moines' historic Valley Junction shopping area. The streets will be crowded, so only bring your Fido if you've trained him/her for these types of crowded situations (similar to the downtown Des Moines Farmer's Market). There will be horse drawn carriage rides too, so don't bring your Fido if s/he can't behave around horses.
Parking is available along the side streets or in a few designated parking lots, so give yourself enough time to find parking and walk with your Fido to Wines of Iowa, right along Railroad Place.
The walk will be canceled if it's raining, snowing, or just too cold. Brrr!
The following was taken from the Valley Junction website (http://www.valleyjunction.com/index.cfm/10062/17653/jingle_in_the_junction):
"The businesses in Historic Valley Junction and the streets will be lined with over 150,000 twinkling lights. Along with your old favorites, such as FREE horse drawn carriage rides, Santa, and caroling, many new activities will be offered this year. Jingle in the Junction will be held from 5-9 pm each evening [November 21, December 5 & 12]."
