What we're about

We gather each Wednesday at the Barclay Manor to share our stories.
They range from fiction to memoir to poetry.
Our group welcomes all voices.
We share to support and critique each others work for pleasure or publication.
Reading is optional.
Sharing your critique is also optional.
And after most meetings we saunter down to the local coffee shop and chat.

The first three meetings are free.
A yearly membership is 25 dollars.
Membership fees all go back into the group for manor rental fees, meetup app fees and the annual christmas party.

West End Writers Meeting

Online event

Our group meetings are held online on Google Meet. A different link will be posted weekly that leads you to a chat room. You can find the link in our event bio or on our Facebook page. The room opens at 630PM. And the meeting starts at 7PM. You can share your stories or sit in to listen to others. Fiction. Non-fiction. Poetry. Or otherwise. If you want to read your work to us then we ask you to provide a GoogleDoc link that allows commenting. See below for details. If it is your first time joining the group, we ask for you to show up on webcam just once so we can put a face to the name. Some members have requested this procedure for safety reasons. After your first meeting, going on cam is entirely optional. Please feel free to shoot us a message if you have any further questions.

How to create a GoogleDoc:
1) Go to 'docs.google.com'. Make sure you're signed into your Google email account.
2) Where it says 'start a new document' click the one that says 'blank with the rainbow plus inside a white square.
3) A word document looking page will load. Here you want to copy and paste all your text from MS word or whatever word doc program you usually use into this blank doc.
4) Click the blue share button in the top right hand screen. A box will pop up asking you to save your file. Do so.
5) When the box pops up that asks you if you would like to 'get link', click 'change' then in the selection box above the blue done button, the one with the arrow, click the drop down box and choose 'commenter'.
6) The only thing you have to do is copy your link. And you can click done.
7) You can use this link to share with us or view any comments we make after each meeting.
