Meet outside Robertsbridge station ticket office.
Car parking at the station £1 all day on Sundays, but there may be on road parking too. The London to Hastings train arrives at 9.34 (if running!) in time for the start of the walk.
We will head East, following the river Rother in places to Bodiam Castle (approx 5 miles).
We will stop for lunch at Bodiam, where there is a National Trust tea room (soup/sandwiches/cakes) and a pub across the road with food. There are tables outside the tea room and a green with some seating next to the pub if you are taking a picnic. If the weather is good and we have made good progress we can stop long enough for anyone who wants to pay a quick visit to the castle (free for NT members, otherwise £9.40) - otherwise you can see it from the car park!
After lunch we head back west towards Roberstbridge. The countryside is gently rolling with some woodland - no major hills but there are a number of stiles! We do have some short road sections and will cross the A21 so dogs not allowed on this one.
The walk ends at Roberstbridge Station and there is a pub called the Ostrich opposite with a nice garden or a tea
room just down the road.
Please note that there is a £2 voluntary contribution for non-Rambler members towards meetup fees. Paid up members of the Ramblers are welcome on any of our walks, but we would encourage you to RSVP. This is to give our volunteer walk leaders an idea of how many are attending, and also to keep the numbers manageable. If, on the day of the walk, you are still on the waiting list and a Rambler member, please let the walk leader know you are coming. On the day of the walk only, the group leader can be contacted on[masked] - voice calls only (no texts).
