Thornapple March 9

In need of water therapy? The river is running at normal levels and is calling your name.

There is another important aspect to this trip.

You may have seen on the news that there is a man missing from Middleville. He is impaired. He is known to walk everywhere, including along the river and river trail. The sheriff department has conducted surface and helicopter searches, but haven't searched from the river. They are not equipped or experienced to do so.

It might be possible to see things from the river that have gone undetected thus far.

I would like to meet at the gazebo in Middleville at 11:30. We will divide into two groups. One will go from Irving to Middleville, the other from Middleville to Parmalee Road. These are more isolated stretches. After Parmalee the river is quite populated and lots of eyes are on it.

We will sort our groups out at 11:30 at the Gazebo and go from there.

Winter rules. Dry bag with full set of clothes and towel in case you become a swimmer. Experienced paddlers preferred.

GPS device that can detect coodinates would be good in case we have some helpful information for the Sheriff dept.

This meet up is not being held in coordination or with the official knowledge of the Sheriff dept. We are just going to enjoy the river and the day in full awareness of the local situation.

Afterward, we should meet up at Champs for a snack.

Please RSVP.

what a lovely act of kindness to put extra eyes on some of the more isolated stretches of river. Our hearts go out to the missing man and his loved ones. May he be found safe and warm. greg and laurie

Also - I have no idea if trees are down, etc. It's the first spring run so who knows?
