I would just look for anyone with a camera and see if they are in the group. I don't think I know anyone who is coming. I am a big guy with a canon camera.

This will be my first time with this group. Is there any formal gathering place or introductions?

I called Meijer Gardens today. NO tripods at Butterflies event and NO selling your photos. They are having a class another day that is not during public hours for $25 I think, and for that you can bring your tripod.

I will be there. It will be interesting to see the different techniques people use. They won't let you use a mon-o-pod either. I have been it the greenhouse with a tripod when the butterflies were there. It was of no real value. The butterflies don't sit still for very long. A fast lens and the fastest ISO you can use without noise is the answer. A flash with a deflector can also be useful.

Does anyone know if they allow tripods?

There really isn't enough room for a 3-legged tripod but you could probably bring in a mono-pod.
