  • Get reacquainted diving happy hour

    Twin Peaks Glendale

Hi WV Scuba! So first let's talk about the elephant in the room. It's been a loooong time since we've done a meet-up. I get it. That falls on me. I am sorry. So now that's out of the way, we can look forward to the new year and new opportunities to network with fellow divers. To get the group kickstarted again, I'd like to have a simple meet & mingle event to get reacquainted. No other agenda for this meet-up. Just to see who's interested in being part of our group and talk about diving. More events to follow. So let's see how much of a turnout we can get on the 31st with some great west valley divers & get reacquainted! I'll be wearing a black shirt with a dive flag or a big shark on it so you can spot us. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Don't miss our next SCUBA meet-up in Goodyear! Steve our esteemed pro diving photographer will be giving a presentation on getting around & diving Cozumel. We will then go over to Saddle Mountain Brewing Company for some beverages and food. The presentation will be on the logistics of travel to Cozumel and getting around the island, the kind of diving to expect, a description of the more noteable marine life and an overview of activities that are available on Cozumel and in the immediate vicinity. Steve has some AMAZING pictures to share & fun will be had by all! Hope to see everybody there! They lock the doors after 5 but someone will be there to let you in!

  • Socialize & talk about diving

Come one come all! Come on out & hang out with your fellow divers and let's talk about all things diving! If we can't be diving that day then at least we can be around fellow divers talking about diving! This will be a fun meet-up. Did I mention there will be a raffle??? Bring any interesting dive pictures or other dive trinkets you'd like to share with the group. We will be out on the patio enjoying the AZ sunshine! See you at Island's on Tuesday!

  • Learn about underwater photography & talk about our Cozumel trip!

Hello WV Divers! Sorry for the delay in getting another meet-up planned. We've been researching some options for our trip & also finding locations for our next meet-up. This email is to announce 2 things. 1. Our next meet-up time & date 2. To talk about the trip to Cozumel we are planning! Our next meet-up will be at The Haymaker on Litchfield RD. They have a private room in the back we can all meet at. They want us to have at least 20 people so please come if you can. In addition to talking about our trip, Steve Rosenberg who is an accomplished underwater photographer will be doing a presentation on taking great pictures underwater pictures in places like Cozumel. He will also be raffling off a free book. So please come even if you’re not planning on going on the trip. You don't want to miss it! Here is the information from Sandy on the trip. Well divers ….I found a bargain that is near impossible to pass up. We are thinking of flying in on June 10th and coming back June 17th. It is at the 4-star Iberostar All-Inclusive Resort in Cozumel for $85.00 per night. That amounts to approximately $301 for a week. There will be some taxes, so let’s estimate it at approx $335-$350 for the room. This would include the room, all your food, and drinks! Incredible! I stayed at Iberostar in November. It was awesome! The food is excellent, the resort is beautiful, and the drinks kept flowing. The pool bar is exceptionally cool. They also have a reputable dive operation, Dressel Divers, on site. Their fleet of boats are right there at the resort and are coming and going throughout the day. What I also liked about this dive shop is that all rental equipment is included in their fee (except for a wetsuit, which I believe was $10). I understand that many of you would not dream of going diving without your own dive gear but for those who do not wish to drag some or all of your gear, this is awesome. Depending on how much diving you want to get in, they have a package for 12 dives throughout the week for around $375. You can also dive less if you want. As I explained at the meeting, I will help any of you find the best and most convenient airfare for your needs. It all depends on what’s important and priority to you. Most convenient and expensive is flying directly into Cozumel. But Cancun is a less expensive option which involves a little excursion. Spirit Air has some low cost fares but some people would never dream of flying with them. So the point is, I help you find the lowest price according to what you want. OK …. So we joined this meet-up to meet other divers in the area and to …..DIVE! So let’s do it! We will never find a better rate than this. But we can only get this rate if we have a group. If you’re married or have a friend that might want to go … great...bring them along. This does not have to be just a “dive vacation”. It is an awesome resort for non divers as well. Half the people we met at this resort were not divers. The resort offers free snorkel gear, kayaks, and paddleboards. Beach is right there to enjoy as well. So let’s do this!! I need dive partners and friends to travel with. This is going to be such a fun and awesome trip! So I’m going to challenge you all to join our adventure. I’m looking forward to meeting you all soon and hope to see you at the next meet up. Sandy [masked] (message me anytime) See everyone at our meet-up on the 25th at 1PM! You can also message or email me with any questions. Thanks! -Brian Cross Your Organizer

  • SCUBA meet-up at the shark tank with free raffles

Dhillon's BBQ at World Wildlife Zoo & Aquarium

Hi Fellow Divers! Announcing our next meet-up at Dhillon's BBQ at World Wildlife Zoo next to the huge shark tank! This will be a great meet & greet event & It will definitely get us all in the mood to go diving! There will be TWO RAFFLES! One raffle will be for anyone who is already certified for FREE SCUBA equipment, and the other is for anyone NOT certified for a FREE SCUBA CERTIFICATION compliments of Inland Water Divers! So be sure to bring some friends & family who want to get certified but haven't yet so they can see how cool us divers are! We can also talk about where we want to plan a trip as a Meet-Up group and about future activities. There have been members who have offered to step-up and do some classes on their expertise (photography etc..) so I'm sure we will be mixing those in as well for future meet-ups. Going forward, we will switch up the locations for meet-ups. That way everyone has a chance for it to "be close." Even if Dhillon's is a drive, please come out to support the group and I promise I'll try to get it closer for you next time. Some ideas for future meet-ups are the patio at Club House in Litchfield Park, the meeting room at The Haymaker in Goodyear, or possibly somewhere by Westgate or Park West. We'll mix it up so we don't get bored at one spot. I thought this is the PERFECT place to kick off a meet-up as the new organizer! I hope to see everyone there! I asked if we could have our meet-up IN the shark tank but they wouldn't go for it. lol. So I have reserved a bunch of spots by the wall opposite the shark tank on the left as you walk in. Please RSVP for # of people who will be coming. Looking forward to seeing all my fellow divers there!

SNORKEL & SCUBA TRIP - Cuba by land & sea! 8-day/7-night trip : - November 19 - 26, 2016 - SOLD OUT! - December 26, 2016 - January 2, 2017 - 2 spots left! *Sign up deadline for December trip is October 31! Cuba may have been restricted politically & economically for the past 50 years, but its borders have remained open to wildlife. Cuba has one of the last remaining healthy ecosystems in the Caribbean. While diving, you will see pristine coral reefs, chilling shipwrecks and a plethora of colorful fish! While many islands in the Caribbean have poisoned or paved over their ecological riches on land and in the sea in pursuit of a growing tourist industry, Cuba’s wild landscapes remain unspoiled. Today, about 22% of Cuban land & 25% of its marine habitat is protected by law. The Cuban government has also imposed laws that limit fishing in the waters surrounding Cuba making it an ideal place to dive.
