What we're about
This reading group is for individuals who self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, intersex, transgender, queer, and/or questioning. We focus on literary works by and about the LGBTQIA community, but we've also been known to read non-LGBTQIA books once in a while. The reading list centers around quality selections from the classics and contemporary publications. We’ve read works by wise (James Baldwin), wacky (John Waters), classic (Willa Cather), contemporary (Jeanette Winterson), fiction (Tennessee Williams), and non-fiction (Jill Lepore) authors.
We love having new members join our group, and we hope that people will be active. We promote a sense of community. Our events are usually hosted in a private home and include a potluck dinner for 8-10 people. We ask members to contribute $3 to attend an event. This fee helps us cover our annual costs to use Meetup.
Because we are trying to build a community of interested and respectful readers, we reserve the right to remove people who rarely visit our Meetup site or attend events. We will periodically review activity history and remove inactive members.
