Meetup at Groove

BRING: Acoustic guitar, music stand, tuner, and 12-15 copies of lyrics/chords sheets for 2 songs of your choice. Also, always good idea to bring a capo and set of extra strings (you never know).
7:00PM - We should have room open for early arrivals.
7:30PM - 9:00 ish - Our usual group play. Around the group we'll go for each to present a song for all to play. In choosing songs try to keep songs to 5 chords or less and avoid unusual chords that the less experienced (like me!) may not know (or show the fretboard diagram for the chord on the chord sheets).
Note: If you're having trouble picking a song that the group hasn't played before, bring copies of something we have done before. Nothing wrong with revisiting song favorites.
9:00 - 9:30 ish - We set aside this time for anyone who wishes to perform a song for the group. You don't have to be a pro or a great singer - passion for the music counts for a lot. Strictly voluntary but it's a great low-key, supportive environment for the experienced and novice to perform.
9:30 - 11:00 ish - After we pack up our gear and straighten up the room, those interested can adjourn to Harry's Burritos restaurant a few doors down for some socializing.

Guy, I was thinking of bringing Heart of Gold by Neil Young. Will you play harmonica? And, if so, what key do you prefer?

Let me try it out tonight, haven't played in awhile. My tab for verse starts with Em, D, Em. So I think key of G. And don't forget you get the accompaniment you pay for :-)

I'm definitely bringing Heart of Gold with the tab you mentioned. EM, D, C, G etc. Hope you can enhance it with your harp playing!

If anyone is interested, the Westchester Hand drumming group will be holding a drum circle at Lake Lincolndale (near Somers) next Saturday Aug 16th at 4pm. Feel free to join us for some communal drumming - you need not know how to play drums. http://www.meetup.com/Westchester-County-Spirited-Drummers/events/197232082/
