Start a monthly Pathfinder game

  • Jul 20, 2013 · 11:00 AM

Come join me to start a new Pathfinder campaign.  As usual, there are some house rules (such as who orders the pizza - we must cover the important things...)

I've been GM'ing for more than 15 years and playing for more than 30.  And I'm crazy to boot.  Don't ask me how I trained the parrot to type for me...

I would need details as to where and when you plan on playing and how often.

Thanks all for coming. I had a blast.
I sent everybody an email with the schedule for the next game, but I'll probably create another event...

She is still running a low grade fever, I don't feel right leaving. Sorry guys. Id like to be included next time if you guys would be ok with it.

    July 20, 2013

    • Kevin D.

We can write you in next game.

    • George

Thanks for being cool about it.

Is parking easy to find, or will there be a place to more effectively set up shop? I'll get there well enough; GPS is great for that kind of thing.

    July 20, 2013

    • Kevin D.

Parking is kind of a pain, I must admit. ..

Here's a link to the character sheet:
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/71744142/Pathfinder%20CharSheet.pdf
This is a fillable pdf. I'll have paper prints available as well.

I'll probably use one of those paper ones you've got.

Myself as well; I'll have splatbooks on my computer as well, but physical copies of the sheet are always more fun.

Guys, I may have a problem. My daughter isn't feeling well today. Looks like I may be 50/50 for tomorrow. Need to see how she is doing later. I am still hoping to be available. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    July 19, 2013

    • George

I'm going to see how she feels in the morning and let you know. Again, apologies.

      July 19, 2013

  • Matthew S.

Okay, I have a character concept in mind, I just need to hash it out with the DM; Clerical lovetrain coming through.

    July 18, 2013

    • Kevin D.

What's the hash? Brown, or corned beef?

      July 18, 2013

    • Matthew S.

Corned beef, what else? Gotta have some good cabbage too, or else you'll really missing out, yanno?

There are a handful of house rules, of course. If you have a character in mind, rough it out and bring it. We'll complete it on Saturday. And it appears that most of the gamers involved are an average age of 28...

    July 12, 2013

    • Kevin D.

And as far as characters go, anything goes. Psionics? Got the book. Monster? We'll figure it out. Animal? Got that book, too.

      July 18, 2013

    • Kevin D.

But everything is going to be level 1 to start...

Just a heads up, I'll need to head out at around 4-4:30pm or so. Hopefully 5 hours will be enough time to get the ball rolling so we can determine if we want to make this Meetup a more regular thing (which I'm hoping for!).

    July 18, 2013

    • Kevin D.

Come with it mostly made, and we'll roll States and finish the rest then.

      July 18, 2013

    • Kevin D.

      I mean, we'll roll stats. ..

I would be interested. Been playing over 20 years mostly 1st and 2nd edition ad&d. Mostly as a dm. I've never played pathfinder but have played 3.5. I'm a quick learner. Would love to hear more about the game.

    July 10, 2013

    • George

Sounds interesting. I like that you try to balance rp and combat. So as long as my lack of 3.75 experience won't be an issue then Id like to play. One more thing, what's the general age group of your players?

      July 11, 2013

    • George

Do you use house rules for character creation? Also, should I make my character beforehand or will we be rolling up the day of the game?

      July 12, 2013

  • Matthew S.

Hahaha, sounds great. Would you mind new players to Pathfinder? I've played a bunch of 3.5, but I'm new to all the new foibles of the new one, so to speak.

    July 7, 2013

    • Kevin D.

Noobs are fine. Just bring your 3.5 splatbooks - my Pathfinder and D&D books were the one box that did not make it from Montana...

This sounds like a great idea! I would love to get involved in a regular Pathfinder game, but I had a couple questions:
    1. How long will the game last that Saturday?
    2. Do you think we'll eventually make it a more regular event?

    July 7, 2013

    • Kevin D.

      1. Since my fiance will be in Spain, I have no time limits. So we will discuss that at the time.

      July 7, 2013

    • Kevin D.

      2. I tend to run multiple monthly games rather than the same game more frequently. It gives people more opportunities to play if they are unable to do so as often as me, but still gives the more flexible people plenty of gaming.
