What we’re about

We are a collective of soccer players who enjoy playing relaxed pick-up games together. We play around Westchester, in public parks and on private fields where we are tolerated. We play rain or shine - unless there’s just absolute torrential rain or heavy snow (although we do shovel snow in the winter sometimes - players bring shovels). The organizers supply small goals, balls and cones, and try to keep games small (usually between 5v5 and 8v8) so everyone can get plenty of touches on the ball. To manage expectations: sometimes we have to stop playing in the middle of a game because it turns out some other group has priority over the field, requiring us to move to another field. Players are asked to bring a dark shirt and a white shirt; we endeavor to select teams fairly. The event RSVP’s are not “official” spot reservations but are only an indication of how many people are planning on coming, so the organizers can set up enough fields. Out of respect for others, please make sure your RSVP reflects the reality of whether you come or not. If you bring friends on a recurring basis, please ask them to join our Group so we can always have a good indication of numbers and we can contain overcrowding. From time to time, we ask members to donate $5 or $10 so we can pay the annual Meetup.com platform fee, and get new equipment. Not to be negative, but the organizers reserve the right to kick anyone out for any reason, although we’ve never had a problem with that. It’s simple: just show up and play the beautiful game.
