WGW Evening Walk needs a new location! Since Sunday 11/3 is daylight savings, it will be dark by 5:30, and the Dam will be closed. Other venue suggestions are most welcome, though I would prefer to stay out of the malls.

Would anyone object to moving this to either Saturday or Sunday during the daytime?

& then there were 3. I feel like I shouldn't really drop out since I suggested the place. That bean said, I wouldn't mind horribly if nobody showed up & I could just drive back home lol
Im ok with cancelling
Works for me then. You don't think Ali's going to show up tho, do ya? I'd feel bad.
I called her and she knows
Sorry running late today...not gonna make it :(
I went cold wimpy. I am a coward.
Sorry guys. Dan won't be home until after 6 so I can't make it tonight. I will be walking at the Dam sometime during the day tomorrow if anyone wants to join me then.

yeh, may actually not be wearing sandals for once.
Walking will get you warm
I'm OK with Stonewall circle in West Harrison. Anyone else?

I see it is off of lake street. can u give a couple of streets to turn on or a gps address or something
Sure, lake street to park lane to stonewall circle to quaker lane. 85 stonewall circle is the corner. gps to there & just turn right onto quaker & park next to the garden hill thing since it's not in front of any yard. You can technically park anywhere since there aren't any no parking signs, but that seems like an ok place.
I love it when a plan comes together
So we'll be walking around with our mouths dragging on the ground from looking at all the huge houses?
by the way, no decal is needed in wcc parking lot 1 as it is for guests. not likely to be crowded at 6 pm either.
What about the white plains hs track that we talked about? Students at WCC drive kinda crazy...I wouldn't want to walk around the loop there at night, as most of it has no sidewalk.
is it lighted? and do u mean a track near the high school or the one on kensico near stop n shop behind the junior high
I'm at wcc u don't need a permit they never check. I've been going for three years and have never been ticketed but watch it will happen bc I jinxed it ha

hmmm, so it's on the books but they don't bother enforcing it? Wonder if they'd notice 7 cars in a row w/o stickers tho. If we do this I'm gonna park a row over & let yall be the honeypot :P
I feel like when I get out of class I will see the group walking!!
So, um, where are we walking?
Heres a suggestion; We could walk around the parking lot of the Saw Mill Multiplex.

We'd have to walk the perimeter about 5 times to = the same distance as our Dam walk. What about WCC?? It's all lit, and once around the loop is just over 1 mile.

Here's the loop: http://oi43.tinypic.c...
We can carry backpacks so we look like students
WCC could work, except that you need a parking decal & they have security driving around. But I don't know how heavily they actually enforce that. How far do we usually walk? http://i.imgur.com/H0... Stonewall Circle is a 1.5 mile loop. If we park @ A, the end of Quaker Lane, it's not in front of anyone's house. & if the whole Stonewall loop is too long we would be able to cut it short via Quaker or Shelley. Or we could just risk WCC, but if I get a ticket I'm mailing it to Westchester Geeks :P
AH i didnt realize you needed parking pass for WCC.

Looks like the stonewall loop is 1.5miles.
I'm assuming suny purchase & manhattanville are the same. If you still want valhalla maybe the grounds around westchester medical center? I am not sure if you need to pay for parking tho, anyone know? The only lit trail in westchester I have been able to find is all the damn way up in Yorktown. http://www.glassburyc... http://i.imgur.com/dc...
Just an fyi b/c you can't tell from google maps, Stonewall Circle is NOT flat. It's definitely not a mountain, but is rather hilly so thought people should know that beforehand if they are expecting the same as the dam. I used to jog the loop a few times back in the day, although I also did cross country. But you frequently see soccer moms & nannies pushing strollers around it in the morn, so I don't think it should be too difficult.
I suppose we're too big a group to walk around the inside of home depot
An option is the area I grew up in. Again, that was grew up in. My parents are the wealthy ones, I'm a poor bastid :P. The streets are wide & very well lit, and it's an upscale neighborhood. We could park in the clubhouse parking lot and walk up Forest Lake & onto Stonewall Circle. @ least I assume there's street lights on Forest Lake, I lived on Stonewall. And if anyone gives us any issues I still have a copy of my old drivers license that lists my old address. Snooty peoples sometimes have nothing better to do than make problems. https://maps.google.com/maps?q=1+Forest+Lake+10604 http://www.parklanereserve.com/

Update: Took a ride over since google street view was showing the Forest Lake connector w/ a roadblock. That was the final phase of the development project. Fortunately it's now finished, open, and has street lights. :)
