Join us for a moderate winter loop on the Appalachian Trail from Rt 301 (AT trail head parking area), north along Canopus Lakes western ridges. We'll continue to the northern most part of the lake. Have lunch and reverse course, south, along the AT with the sun to warm our faces. Conditions will be cold with some snow on the trail, no mud! Hiking boots, (if snow, gaiters, microspikes), and hiking poles are the way to go. Remember to dress in layers, wool and synthetics are best. Cotton will not keep you warm. In your day pack should be lunch, 2 liters of water, charged cell phone, trail map you downloaded, and anything else you will need (legal, lol) to have an enjoyable hike. Also important: compass, flashlight, whistle, camera, and personal first aid kit.
Extracurricular Activity: Cold Spring after hours! Location TBD.
Night Time Extra: If you like Pat Benatar, she's playing Sat. night at the Capital Theater in Port Chester (great new venue!). I'm going with a friend (balconey Row E). Some tickets still available: http://www.thecapitoltheatre.com/event/194157-pat-benatar-neil-giraldo-port-chester/
