Join us for a fun, intermediate local Westchester hike. Moderate pace with some steep climbs. We will hike most of the perimeter of Butler Sanctuary, about 3 miles/ 1.5 hours total. Plan to meet up at the Butler parking lot by 10:15 am. Heavy rain cancels.

***This is not a hike for beginners. Please make sure your fitness level is up to the many sustained climbs on this hike.

About Butler: Many rolling hills with a wide selection of well-maintained trails. Many interesting rock outcroppings. Multitude of deer, squirrels, chipmunks and various raptor species. An occasional fox sighting as well.

Best navigation bet: From the north: Take 684 to Rte 172 west. Go one-half mile, make a left turn onto Chestnut Ridge Road and follow road to the Lake Bridge Road junction. Turn right on Lake Bridge Road and follow to end. From the south: Take 684 to Rte 22 north. Make a left turn onto Chestnut Ridge Road and follow road to the Lake Bridge Road junction. on Lake Bridge Road and follow to end.
Probable hike route: Parking Lot -> Red -> Orange (R)-> Red (R)-> Yellow (L)

Equipment: Sturdy hiking shoes. Plenty of water. Hiking poles if needed. Insect repellent.
