Moderate to Fast. This hike occurs every week on Friday. We move at a fairly brisk pace but do stop halfway for a water break and views.
Distance/Terrain: ~ 5.0 miles in the trails of the Buttermilk Hill area of Rockefeller State Park, including Lucy's Loop, pastures and Laurance's Ridge. Occasional longer hikes may substitute other Buttermilk Hill area features such as Goat Trail, Perry's Way, Raven Rock Trail, and Ferguson's Loop.
For those wanting more challenge, you’re encouraged to bring along 1 - 4 pound hand weights to use while walking.
If the weather looks to be a problem, a revised post will be up by 2:00 pm.
Directions: Meet at Rockefeller Park Buttermilk Hill section (North entrance) parking lot: On 117 (Bedford Rd), close to 9A and Taconic Parkway intersection with 117. If coming west on 117, make a left just after the two large power line towers that are on your right. It's a large lot with tree-lined driveway immediately next to the smaller North County Trail bike path lot. There is a brown Park sign next to this North entrance. See map with red arrow below.
Overall - For the directionally-challenged, about a minute away from Pace University, on 117.
