This group is for those interested in casual walking, touring, outdoor events and concerts, dining, picnics, movies. We will be exploring Westchester and also surrounding areas including the city and beyond.

Rockefeller Preserve Hike - Old Sleepy Hollow Road location

Let's hike in Rockefeller Preserve every Sunday, starting at 8 am. We start at the Old Sleepy Hollow Road location (see directions below and picture above). This is for exercise. Bring plenty of water and dress in layers and you might want to consider bug spray (in the Spring, Summer & Fall). The trails are wide, have cinder gravel and there are hills. The walk is 4-6 miles at a 3 mile/hour pace. PLEASE LOOK AT THE MAP. For the foreseeable future, hikes will originate from the Rockefeller park entrance on Old Sleepy Hollow Road. Free parking is available along either side of Old Sleepy Hollow Road. For those who want to park in the main lot ($6), you can walk down Old Sleepy Hollow Road Trail ("SH" on the park map), just outside the main parking lot to the right and meet us at the start point. Leave yourself 15-20 minutes for that walk. Tuesday morning walks in Rockefeller Preserve

Rockefeller State Park Preserve

Join a weekly, early morning hike on Tuesdays - 5-6 miles, two hours in Rockefeller Park. Let's meet in the main parking lot of Rockefeller Preserve. Route 117, 1 mile east of Route 9, Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591. This park is comprised of 1,400 acres donated by the Rockefeller family. From April thru October, there is a $6 parking fee at the main entrance. During other months, weekday parking is Free. NY State Seniors (62 ) qualify for free weekday parking all year long. Trail maps are available at the park visitor center and through Friends of the Rockefeller State Park Preserve. The trails of the Preserve are crushed stone carriage roads laid out by John D. Rockefeller Sr. and Jr. in the first half of the 20th century. Designed to complement the landscape, the 45 miles of scenic carriage roads are wide and easy to walk. Seasonal activities include hiking, recreational running, bird watching, fishing (New York state fishing license and Rockefeller Park permit required), picnicking, photography, painting, geocaching (park permit required). In winter, there are sledding hills, snowshoe trails, and cross-country skiing. Household pets are allowed on leash.
