What we're about
We are an all-female a cappella singing group based in Westchester County, founded in June 2016. The name of the group is Counterpoint. We sing original arrangements of popular songs in a variety of styles. We rehearse on Thursday nights.
We perform songs with catchy melodies and interesting harmonies, some well-known and some more unusual. Our current repertoire includes "Turning Tables" by Adele, "Rhiannon" by Fleetwood Mac, "No Roots" by Alice Merton, "Walk On By" by Dionne Warwick, and "Can't Stop The Feeling" by Justin Timberlake, among others.
The group has a committed membership. Over the last year, we have done several local performances and we are continuing to build up our repertoire. If you are interested in joining, you must commit to attending rehearsals regularly.
I am looking for women who can read music and have experience in a singing group or choir. Our arrangements are complex and challenging, so you must be able to read and understand music notation. Also, you must have experience singing with an a cappella group or a classical choir, or other similar ensemble. You must be able to hold your own on your part, even if you are the only person singing that part.
New members are accepted by audition only. If you are interested in auditioning, please apply to join the Meetup group and answer the application questions.
We are a talented group of women who love singing together. If you enjoy singing harmony with other women, please come join us!
