Please feel free to share your own experiences, as well as your hopes and expectations for this group.

Look forward to meeting others interested in Buddhism, sharing our experiences and learning how we integrate the teachings into our daily lives.

Hi all, I'm most interested in the teachings of Trungpa Rinpoche & Pema Chodron of the Shambala tradition, as well as Thich Nhat Hahn... and happy to learn about other teachers/lineages as well.

What Mary is saying about this Meetup Group

In response to Kevin's review (april 2012), we used to have a Methodist pastor attend our group (he welcomed us to meet at his church) & sometimes our group would talk about Christianity, but I would say that predominately we talk about Buddhism & about our personal experience & practice of Buddhism in our lives. We continue to meet at the Methodist church of Pleasantville & are grateful to the new pastor who allows us to continue meeting there. While I cannot speak for everyone in the group, I would say that most of us who attend, are very devoted to the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. It would be wise for a newcomer to attend 3 to 4 meetings, to get a sense of our group. For example, today we talked a lot about nature & if you only attended this session, you might think we were more of a nature loving group, we did talk about Buddhism as it relates to being in the moment & noticing the beauty of nature, but you might come away thinking this group is all about nature!
