Roll with Howard Shafer and Jacquette Ward in a low key, social ride celebrating the joy of cycling. Meet at Sunnyvale Community Center at 9:45am for a 10:00am departure. Cruise over a few Los Altos hills and then head to Stanford University for a culture fix. We’ll compare themes of sculpture from New Guinea with the sculptural themes of Rodin. We’ll eat an organic lunch at the Jesse Ziff Cool’s Museum Cafe. It is both very good and very expensive. Of course, you can always bring your own lunch. For more information contact Howard or Jacquette [masked]). Rain cancels.

    How much climbing is there??

This ride has 1300 feet of climbing. There are two moderately steep sections. The first is on Magdalena and the second is on Elena. The steepest part of each is about one quarter mile long although both are longer than the steep parts. What this means is that the steep sections are short enough to walk if you have to, so don't be frightened off. They aren't all that steep anyway!

I realize now that we never get to the steep part of Elena so the only moderately steep hill is part of Magdalena. Other than that, my first comment is correct..
