after-work photo sessions

Free-form time to practice, share, learn, show and tell new toys, brainstorm, relax, recharge, whatever. With or without camera. No standing agenda. Various spots in and around Missoula, indoors or out.

Feel free to suggest a subject, technique, or place you like to shoot or would like to try.

A few possibilities to start with: architecture, urban oddities, macro, portrait, pets, action, single focal length, B&W, video.

I'll start these out bi-weekly to begin with. We could make them weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, and the time and location are always up for discussion.

I think I'll email my phone number to the people who RSVP from now on. That should make things easier.

I'm sorry I didn't make it. I was sick all day and today.

Did anybody besides Ryan show up and not go to the right place? I was waiting on the bandstand by the blue stairs on the west side of Higgins. I'm tempted to give up on these if only one other person keeps showing up.

I am looking to buy a new camera and was interested in getting others opinions, suggestions, and helpful tips. I haven't attended a session yet but am eager to meet people into photography as well.

Like Peter said, we've got a lot of opinions :-) I wish I were showing up tonight. I'm sure everyone would love to hear my opinion...Okay, maybe not. FYI, there's a radio program on the weekends called "Tech Guy" out something like. He's got a segment on digital photography. Also has a website... do a search for Leo Laporte.

Turns out that working with kids is exhausting. I'll not be able to make it tonight :-(

Sorry but I am beat. Fiscal yr ended yesterday at work and I am toast. Hoping this 4 for day weekend for me will help me regenerate fully. So I will pass tonight.

My camera is 1 year old as of June. It's a Sony Nex6. I love the pictures I get out of it. I love how compact it is and easier to travel with all of its lenses. I rarely edit a photo these days. When I do it is more for effect then necessity. The only thing that I am struggling with beyond some technical things I just need to take the time to figure out still is that I am still not used to having to change lenses for a lot of things. I wasn't on a DSLR or this type of camera before and it's quite frankly a pain. While this type of camera makes it all much more compact the basic need to carry all of this and do so in the field versus just changing a setting on a camera is frustrating at times because I am always worried about getting dirt in the lens or scratching something. Most of my camera work is outdoors in nature. UGH!

There should be enough opinions between the lot of us signed up. Ali got a new camera recently, too.
