Time for another

FULL MOON Hike n Howl

Sunday eve April 17th

Bring the dog if you have one, or you can howl on your own. Let's take an evening hike by the light of the end of day and first hour of the rising moon. Moon rise is about 7:40 PM so if we start at 7 PM we will catch some daylight, twilight and hopefully moonlight. Just in case, also bring a flashlight.

Meet at 7 PM. Plan to be out about 2 hours.

Meet in the parking lot for the Devil's Canyon trailhead.  Here's a link to a map of the trails.

We will plan this walk to be on a loop of trails so we go out one way and come back to the cars by another route.

Get off the I-70 Fruita/ Hwy 340 exit. Cross the river and head uphill on CO Hwy 340. Turn right at Kings View Road. Go about 2.2 miles to the well marked parking area on your left. Meet near the sign board and outhouse.

- shoes that can walk on sandy trails or slickrock outcrops

- clothing for the weather and a small pack to carry it in

- water & a small snack if you need an energy boost

- flashlight or headlamp

- a little $$$ since last hike n howl we made a dash for Pablo's Pizza and made it there at 8:57, in time to beat their 9 PM closing. If the group wants, we may try that again!

The more the merrier.

Bring pick-up bags since I am not sure if the dispenser at the trailhead will have any and a leash (but let Fido run free if you like, except where control may be necessary).

If you want/ need a ride from GJ let that be known with a message here and maybe some one can help. When you post a note about carpooling if you tell where you are coming from and post a cell # it makes it a lot easier for others to help you out. Even though the round trip from GJ would only be 25-30 miles at most, offer the driver a few $$ for gas, please.

There is no parking fee at this trailhead.

You may want to join the Colorado Canyon Association, formerly known as Friends of McInnis Canyons

An overcast sky kept us from seeing the moon but the people, dogs and walk were all wonderful. Thanks to all who participated.

My dogs will not be here yet. They are due to arrive in a week or two so . . . I will do my own howling and use your dogs for vicarious enjoyment. See you Sunday evening.
