Ruby-Horsethief Paddle as a river clean-up with CO Canyons Assn.

McInnis Canyons River Cleanup  ----  Room for a few more people

Bring your boat and join us! Saturday and Sunday August 2-3rd, CCA and BLM will host a river cleanup in the Loma to Westwater section of the Colorado River. This section of river is 'flat' at this water level and is suitable for beginner paddlers or rafters.

Appropriate boats would be rafts, inflatable kayaks (IKs), solo or tandem canoes, large cockpit 'recreational' kayaks. This section is OK for sea kayaks too but they would not be very functional as 'clean-up' craft.

We will camp together at the mouth ofMee Canyon along the river for a fun night of celebrating our work. CCA will provide dinner the night of the 2nd and breakfast the morning of the 3rd. We will also be giving out some river gear donated by REI during dinner.

If you want to be part of this community service - fun float through these scenic canyons (and not have to labor to get your own permit) CALL or EMAIL NOW to reserve one of our LAST TWO SPACES on the trip

 [masked] or call at[masked]-7902.

On Saturday we will meet at 7:30 A.M. at the Loma boat launch get gear unloaded and run our shuttle to Westwater. Goal is to be on the water by 9:00/9:30. The float to our campsites Mee 2 and 3 should take about 6 hours.

Saturday evening we will enjoy dinner, drinks and a drawing for REI-donated give-aways!

Sunday we will eat breakfast, pack up camp, and finish cleaning up the rest of the river. Once again this should be about a 6 hour float. So we should be done by 3:30 or 4:00 at the latest.

this was a fabulous trip seeing the Ruby Horsethief part of the river and doing some good by helping to clean up the trash out of the bushes. BLM, Colorado Canyons Association, WSA all joined together for this outing. My coup was getting a chair out of a small alcove in an even smaller eddy.

So it was you who got the chair! I saw it, but didn't want to risk the flip in the eddy! Good job!!!

Best weather that could have been imagined. Diverse and interesting crew assembled by CO Canyons Assn and an interesting gaggle of BLM employees and interns. Not a lot of trash on this section of river but same-same as last week on the Gunnison: plastic bottles, a plastic chair or 2, shoes and sandals then just assorted 1 of this or two of that's. Thanks CCA, Joe & Bry, for setting this up. Thanks to Betty for cooking the delicious dinner for a crowd of over 30 - big task and nicely done.
