Doug is unable to make it so here is the update and details for this event: For those of you who wish to carpool, we'll meet at Murdoch's. I will meet everyone there to caravan to the trailhead; since I plan on skiing for as long as possible, plan on making your own carpooling arrangements at Murdoch's or contact other participants directly through WSA.
I plan to classic ski as many of the groomed County Line Trails as possible (possibly skiing to Skyway and back) - but feel free to skate or classic ski.
This is a go-at-your-own-pace event. All levels are welcome. Slower skiers may opt for shorter, easier loops within the trail system, or plan to be on the trail beyond the time frame to cover this distance.
As of Wednesday, 11/30, there weren't any signs up yet; I don't know when the GMNC will have the signage complete.
Make Sure You Bring:
• your own trail map
• plenty of water
• plenty of warm layers and a windproof outer layer
• kick wax (if you need it)
• first aid kit
• day pack
• $$$ (gas $$$ for your driver)
Make sure you come prepared for ANY kind weather conditions.
The drive from GJ is a little over an hour. The Grand Mesa Nordic Council provides a great deal of service to this activity, so check out their site. Board & Buckle will rent a set of cross country skis, boots and poles to you for $13. Should you need to rent your equipment Board and Buckle opens at 8:00 a.m. (They will permit you pick up gear the night before.) Give them a call or take a look at the site if you want more information:
