After a 2 hour drive from GJ, we will meet at the River Camp RV Park on the SW corner of the bridge crossing the White River near Meeker at 9am. Promptness is expected so don't be late! We will move vehicles needed for the shuttle to the Rio Blanco Lake take out. After returning to the camp ground we will launch. Approximately 4.5 hours later (depending on flows) we will take out where a side channel comes in just upstream from Rio Blanco Lake. Hard Kayaks, inflatable kayaks and canoes are suitable for the numerous Class I and II rapids we will encounter. Personal Floatation Devices (PFD's) are REQUIRED. Spray skirts, helmets and throw ropes are recommended. The river is not deep, but I expect current will be strong and fast since water levels are higher than normal this year. You can expect to see eagles and numerous waterfowl with their broods in tow, including geese, common mergansers and mallards. It is a little late in the year, but it is also possible to see mule deer and elk if we are lucky. Watch for them on the drive up from Rifle.
