Full Moon Hike
Bring picnic dinner
Orange Dome near Devil's Canyon
Hike time will be about 1 hour each way, probably a bit less. The high point of our little walk will offer gorgeous sunset & moon rise views as well as a picnic spot overlooking all of the Grand Valley (and, if it is breezy there is a great sheltered area we can eat out of the wind).
Since this is not a long or necessarily strenous hike maybe it is a good time to introduce Hiking 3-course or 4-course dinners?
Let me know what you think about someone bringing salad, someone else hors'd vours, a main course or 2; and, dessert. Also, sparkling cider or other beyond the usual beverage(s).
Meet at Doug & Mary's house (you could start from Kodel or Devil's canyon trailheads but we are actually a little closer from our house to where we plan to go). Meet at 6:15 PM so we can take off no later than 6:30 PM, please. If you have to be a bit later in order to make it to this special evening, call to let me know and I can stay back to wait for you this time.
Strudy shoes or light hiking boots Trekking poles if you like them; part of the walk will be steepish. I bring mine. Water or other beverages for dinner Dinner (be part of a 3 or 4 course dinner or just do your own thing) Headlamp in case we get into some deep shadows on the walk down DOGS:
Yes of course. This is BLM land so FIDO is fine here.
Please post in your RSVP if you want to participate in the group dinner idea. If Yes, please indicate what you think you'll bring.
