What we're about

Are you looking to meet some new friends and have some new kinds of fun? Do you like to eat? Dance? Play games? Drink? Play trivia and watch movies, etc? This may be the group for you!

West-Side Friends is a great way to get together with other people who love to have awesome social events and activities. We get together to play board games, we do charades, we eat out, we dance the night away, and we also play trivia. We socialize both in our homes and outside at restaurants, parks, movie theaters and a variety of public spaces. West-Side Friends is a diverse, fun group for people of varied ages, tastes, backgrounds and interests.

Joining a Meetup group is easy to do. Going to your first Meetup event, especially if you do so alone, might not be so easy. The members of West-Side Friends want you to know that we are a friendly, diverse, and welcoming group of people who share a love of friends and fun. Let us know you are coming, and we will look for you. We highly encourage you to post a photo - posting your photo makes it easier for us to find you, but it is not mandatory.

Our events are hosted by group members who are all volunteers. We welcome your thoughts and suggestions, and we encourage you to share them with us. Of course we always appreciate your help! If you have a great idea, feel free to host a meetup or contact an Organizer to help you get started. Everyone is welcome here.

We would love to get to know you.
Please tell us something about yourself, your interests, what you'd like to do & places/events/activities you'd be interested in.

Some other things we want to share with you:
DUES:
We collect a $6.00 annual due. We offer an alternative method of payment, not through the meetup app, whereby the cost is $5.00 annually. New members have a 30 day trial period to decide if they want to join and become a member. You are welcome to bring a guest with you one time - - after that if your same guest wants to join in on the activities, they need to become a member.

NO-SHOW POLICY:
We have a no-show policy for our events and activities. In our group anyone is welcome to host an event. For those who are attending an event, it is very important to check your schedule and un-RSVP from an event if your plans change. If you do not show up to an event for which you are signed up, or if you cancel after RSVPs are closed, you will be marked as a ”no-show”. You will be allowed three “no-shows,” after which point you will be kept on a waiting list for all events for a year. If spaces open up on the day of an event, you may be moved into that event. But no-shows will not be overlooked. West-Side Friends is a group that welcomes everyone, and we do not like to be strict. But it is embarrassing to have an event at a restaurant and only have 12 people show up when 20 signed up.

I hope after reading all "about us" you'll join us. We look forward to meeting you!

Location visible to members

It may be scary. It maybe frightful. But you’ll never know unless you come to the fest. Come early to play yard games. Bring a favorite fall appetizer, soup, salad, bread, casserole or dessert. Your welcome to bring adult beverages. I plan on making spicy cornbread. We can also play yard and table games after dinner. Please come dressed in costume. Well have fun dancing to the Monster Mash and Thriller.

I will also have two furry friends in attendance. 🐕

Dinner and Movie: Piada and Eternals

Piada Italian Street Food

The Eternals looks like a snappy, action-packed film. And Piada has a great assortment of Italian street food.
I will post the showtime for the film and the theater (either AMC First Colony or AMC The Fountains) the Wednesday before the event). When we reserve our seats online, we post our seats in the comments so we can sit close to each other.
