Data Science competitions can be a great learning tool for both beginners and advanced practitioners of data science. And most of us are already aware of data science competition platforms like Kaggle. But have you ever thought of running a similar data science competition within your organization? Not only could it help solve an organizational problem using data science but it could help introduce data science to employees across the organization.
Our speaker for October has been doing just that. Dr. George Paslaski from Farmers Insurance organized Farmers’ first Advanced Analytics Conference in 2012. Initially there was no budget and minimal executive support. But the conference has evolved to where it now has executive sponsorship, includes a full day of talks, a data mining contest with cash prizes, and a half day training event. Come attend the talk to learn and get inspired to do similar conferences with competitions within your organization!
