THE ICEMAN @ Landmark, Saturday, 5/4, 7:30 PM

Director/Co-Writer Ariel Vromen will be present for this screening.

Viewers of HBO's Boardwalk Empire will recognize Michael Shannon as the devoted father and murderous Special Prohibition Agent, Nelson van Alden, or as the Oscar nominee for his role in Sam Mendes' Revolutionary Road...or maybe you won't recognize him at all. Whatever, he's a commanding presence on the screen, full of smoldering menace, and this part seems to be made for him: a devoted family man who's secretly a hit man for the mob. Another movie about family values gone wrong. It's all in the trailer...

Tickets are available at Landmark's website. I'm in K1.

Dinner before the movie, at the Westside Tavern, is posted separately.

Synopsis:

Inspired by actual events, The Iceman follows notorious contract killer Richard Kuklinski (Academy Award(R) nominee Michael Shannon) from his early days in the mob until his arrest for the murder of more than 100 men. Appearing to be living the American dream as a devoted husband and father; in reality Kuklinski was a ruthless killer-for-hire. When finally arrested in 1986, neither his wife nor daughters had any clue about his real profession.

Well-made movie. Michael Shannon should get an Oscar nomination. Very violent of course, since it's about a serial killer.

Very interesting movie, great performances, and a remarkably successful effort to keep the potential for heroizing a very dangerous man...kudos to first time director Vroman...
