So sue me--I'm a Joan Rivers fan (well, lately not so much but I remember her when she was one of the funniest people on TV). This 85-minute documentary has had good word of mouth since its debut at Sundance last year. It is not a puff piece. Plus how can you resist seeing Joan live for the price of a Landmark seat?

The highly acclaimed documentary Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work takes the audience on a year-long ride with legendary comedian Joan Rivers in her 76th year of life?peeling away the mask of an iconic comedian and exposing the struggles, sacrifices and joy of living life as a ground breaking female performer. The film is an emotionally surprising and revealing portrait of one the most hilarious and long-standing career women ever in the business. Directed by Ricki Stern and Anne Sundberg (The Devil Came on Horseback).

Excerpts from reviews:
One of the most truthful documentaries about show business I've seen. Also maybe the funniest... She remains one of the most transgressive and fearless of comedians, and one of the quickest, fastest and most merciless. The doc shows a life force of formidable energy."
Roger Ebert, The Chicago Sun Times

"SHARP AND IRRESISTIBLE. Rip-roaring? Her energy is a thing to behold..She?s the comedian as teller of uproariously toxic, gutbucket truths as surely as Lenny Bruce or Richard Pryor ever were?"
Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly

"An ABSOLUTELY RIVETING portrait of a woman who is a creature of show business: tireless, ageless, unforgiving--and always, always funny."
Leonard Maltin, Secret's Out

"It?s the comedy that stays with you - how it?s born of doubt, insecurity, and great rage. Rivers is still painfully funny."
Wesley Morris, The Boston Globe
