New Meetup: THE ROAD @ The Egyptian, Friday, 11/6, 8 PM

From: Lindsie
Sent on: Thursday, October 29, 2009 9:42 AM
Please join me (Lindsie) for an advance screening of The Road, a highly anticipated film based on Corman McCarthy's extremely well-received post-apocalyptic nightmare about a devastated world where everyone left alive has a "lean and hungry look", because there is so little food left that...well...they sort get the idea. This screening will be followed by a conversation with special guests, star Viggo Mortensen and director John Hillcoat. This has a very good chance of selling out pretty fast.

No dinner plans for this one, and I'm going home after the conversation...but we'll be getting together in the courtyard of the Egyptian starting at 7:15.

Tickets are available at Fandango's website.

The Synopsis: A father (Mortensen) and his son (Kodi Smit-McPhee) walk alone through burned America. Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind. It is cold enough to crack stones, and, when the snow falls it is gray. The sky is dark. Their destination is the coast, although they don?t know what, if anything, awaits them there. They have nothing: just a pistol to defend themselves against the lawless bands that stalk the road, the clothes they are wearing, a cart of scavenged food and each other. For more details, see the full listing:
