PAIR UP AND LEARN TOGETHER What we are currently reading: The Ruby Way: Solutions and Techniques in Ruby Programming By Hal Fulton, starting an RSPEC BOOK and finishing the HARTL BOOK Heralded as a great "how-to" book for effective Ruby programming with over 400+ examples that answer the question: "How do I do this in Ruby?" We'll be going back and forth between the book, the Ruby Standard Library and our own resources. ** IF you have not read the Chapters we will accommodate to where everyone is at the moment. We're going to be learning about Testing today. RSPEC - At the very least configure our environment... //////////=====//////////===== //////////===== Also we are reading M. Hartl's Book ( RUBY ON RAILS TUTORIAL (RAILS 5) Try reading up to Chapter 12 //////////=====//////////===== //////////===== Goals: Practice.... until its 2nd nature. Each week, based on our momentum we'll surge forward or take our time to practice and truly understand to the core. What to Expect & How to Prep - Read the chapter we're working before our meetup! - If you've already read the book, come mentor and pair. It's priceless. - Be ready to ask questions or share insights. - Highly encouraged to purchase the book. - Practice with (, ( or Cloud9 ( All are free. All are welcome and at every level. We try to steward the night toward the the right level to keep everyone engaged and practicing. //////////=====//////////===== //////////===== FYI this is the SAME MEETUP, DIFFERENT URL: LA MEETUP ( Los Angeles Women's Ruby on Rails Group Let's remember that we're not all at the same level. What we're about

We are dedicated to increase gender diversity in the Ruby community by helping women learn Ruby and Ruby on Rails. Each week we meet on the Westside of the Los Angeles area, primarily meeting in Santa Monica. Our aim is to build a rock-solid community of women programmers, specializing on Rails that support each other with a community spirit. You may have absolutely no coding experience to advanced skills. All are welcome, even the boys! Come join us!
