What we're about

We are dedicated to increase gender diversity in the Ruby community by helping women learn Ruby and Ruby on Rails. Each week we meet on the Westside of the Los Angeles area, primarily meeting in Santa Monica. Our aim is to build a rock-solid community of women programmers, specializing on Rails that support each other with a community spirit. You may have absolutely no coding experience to advanced skills. All are welcome, even the boys! Come join us!

Let's study Ruby & React

Online event

** We are meeting on FRIDAY this week only!!!

//////////=====//////////===== //////////=====

OUR CURRENT FOCUS:
• How to Create a Simple CRUD App with Rails and React

We're going to begin building this REACT-RAILS app using the
following two tutorial, one from Digital Ocean:
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-set-up-a-ruby-on-rails-project-with-a-react-frontend
And this one that I think will be interesting to include:
https://stevepolito.design/blog/rails-react-tutorial/

In this tutorial, you will create a Ruby on Rails application that stores your favorite recipes then displays them with a React front end. When you are finished, you will be able to create, view, and delete recipes using a React interface styled with Bootstrap OR Tailwind.
I'm more interested in using TailWind CSS at:
https://tailwindcss.com/

//////////=====//////////===== //////////=====

What to Expect & How to Prep
- Read through the article we're working on before the meetup
- If you've got experience, please come mentor.
- Be ready to ask questions or share insights.
- I'll post the chapters / sections in the comments noting what we are working on, the morning of the meetup.

All are welcome and at every level. We try to steward the night toward
the right level to keep everyone engaged and practicing.

//////////=====//////////===== //////////=====

Let's remember that we're not all at the same level.
It's highly encouraged for senior programmers to come
and mentor. Even it its been only a few years,
its truly priceless to someone who is brand new to programming.

//////////=====//////////===== //////////=====

Here's some resources we'll also be referencing,
when we need a deeper dive into an explanation.
I'm thinking of focusing on a chapter a week to get through
this course, so we can figure this out at our next meetup.
