What we're about

We are dedicated to increase gender diversity in the Ruby community by helping women learn Ruby and Ruby on Rails. Each week we meet on the Westside of the Los Angeles area, primarily meeting in Santa Monica. Our aim is to build a rock-solid community of women programmers, specializing on Rails that support each other with a community spirit. You may have absolutely no coding experience to advanced skills. All are welcome, even the boys! Come join us!

OUR CURRENT FOCUS: • How to Create a Simple CRUD App with Rails and React We're going to build this REACT-RAILS app this next meetup: https://hibbard.eu/rails-react-crud-app/ Its a Calendar APP and James, the author, does a pretty thorough job going through all the nuances. If you don't know React, we'll spend the first 15 minutes going through how it works and the differences and similarities with Rails. //////////=====//////////===== //////////===== What to Expect & How to Prep - Read through the article we're working on before the meetup - If you've got experience, please come mentor. - Be ready to ask questions or share insights. All are welcome and at every level. We try to steward the night toward the right level to keep everyone engaged and practicing. //////////=====//////////===== //////////===== FYI this is the SAME MEETUP, DIFFERENT URL: West-side Rails Study Group http://www.meetup.com/Westside-Rails-Study-Group/ Los Angeles Women's Ruby on Rails Group http://www.meetup.com/Los-Angeles-Womens-Ruby-on-Rails-Group/ Let's remember that we're not all at the same level. It's highly encouraged for senior programmers to come and mentor. Even it its been only a few years, its truly priceless to someone who is brand new to programming. //////////=====//////////===== //////////===== Here's some resources to help with Ruby: The Ruby Way: Solutions and Techniques in Ruby Programming By Hal Fulton RSPEC - https://www.devmynd.com/blog/setting-up-rspec-and-capybara-in-rails-5-for-testing/ (http://pragprog.com/titles/achbd/the-rspec-book) RUBY ON RAILS TUTORIAL (RAILS 5) M.
