Let's study RoR together

We're working to create a Mentor Program where both experts and newbies come together to pair and level up all over town. Find your mentor this year or become one - all are encouraged to join and help each other gain Ruby Wisdom this year.

Pragmatic Programmers suggest learning a new language every year. We're Rubyists but Ruby and RoRails is always working within a spectrum of many other languages. We encourage you to make a goal for this year, post it to our group and find your pair to work with. Then over the course of this year we'll get together to share our progress.

I'm working on learning BackboneRails with Node.js this year! I'll be posting to my github repo daily/weekly as I make progress.
Anybody interested in being my pair?

You can find us working toward another year of Ruby Mastery on
TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY & the official THURSDAY NIGHTS at the following locations:

Find us at Pivotal Labs Weekly Pair Exchange / Extreme Roundtable
A bi-weekly opportunity to work with someone new. The Pivots are great and encourage pair programming. Every other week you'll Pair Program or join the Roundtable Discussion.
TUES JAN 14 - Extreme Roundtable 631 Wilshire Bl Suite 2c, Santa Monica, CA (map)

Find us at IMSS Building, Caltech

We are on hiatus for about a month and will re-igniting our efforts after Ruby Conf.
• WED TBD - Our next book will be chosen in about a month.

Find us at our old haunt Panera Bread every Thursday unless there's meeting conflict.
We meet at 6:30 - 10:pm in the patio or inside near the back of the restaurant.
• THURS JAN 16 We'll be at the main LA Ruby Meetup at Zest Finance

• FEB 6th / 7th / 8th - 6th Annual LA RUBY CONFERENCE

Don't feel intimidated if you are brandy new to Ruby or Ruby on Rails; we will help you get up to speed if you are willing to put in the time. If you are more advanced; you can learn by helping others learn while having a dedicated study night.

We're always looking for speakers, mentors and general help. Every other month, we'll plan a get together and showcase our work, discuss advanced topics and network with other women programmers.

If your brand new:
Learn Ruby the Hard Way - Great place to start. ( a documented repo here )
Rails for Zombies - When you just want to absorb. - An interactive application to see immediate results.

If your more Advanced:
Ruby on Rails Tutorial 3.2 - Michael Hartl
